Merton@Home

Date: Saturday 27 June 2015 - Sunday 28 June 2015
Time: All day
Venue
Merton College, Oxford

Following the successful 750th Anniversary celebrations, we relaunched the Merton Society Weekend with a new feel to appeal to all tastes and ages.

The new Merton@Home weekend was a celebration of, and a nostalgic return to, life at Merton, giving alumni the chance to revisit some of the aspects of College life that made Merton 'home' while they were here. Taking place on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June, Merton@Home offered something slightly different to the usual events.

Events and activities included:

  • Black Tie Dinner in Hall with Howard Davies (1969, Honorary Fellow) as speaker
  • A choir workshop with choral composer Alexander L'Estrange (1991)
  • The Warden's Garden Party with tea and strawberries
  • Punting on the Cherwell
  • Tours of the College gardens and Library and of the University Botanic Gardens
  • Climbing the Chapel Tower
  • A lecture on Sibelius from Professor Daniel Grimley, Professor of Music and Tutor at Merton

The Merton Society AGM took place at 12 noon on Sunday 28 June in the TS Eliot Theatre.
