Striggio's great 40-part motet, lost for 400 years and rediscovered in 2007, is believed to have spurred Thomas Tallis to write his masterpiece, Spem in alium, when Striggio brought it to London in 1567. The Choir's success as a breeding ground for young singers was celebrated with the return of some of its most outstanding alumni to bring Striggio's great piece to life, alongside other works by the renaissance choral masters Gabrieli, Victoria, Praetorius and Schutz.
