Mertonians making a difference
Each year, the Annual Fund provides a vital source of income to Merton which is used in ways that have a direct and immediate impact on our students. The Annual Fund works to support a variety of needs, including:
- Supporting students
- Providing postgraduate scholarships
- Sustaining and enhancing the Tutorial System
- Protecting and resourcing Merton’s buildings
Participation is key
Participation at any level is crucial to the success of the Annual Fund, and gifts of all sizes are most welcome. Since the launch of our 750th Anniversary Campaign in 2007, some 2848 Mertonians have made a gift to the College, over 50% of our Alumni. This level of support is incredible, especially when given regularly to provide financial stability which enables us to plan for the future.
In 2011-2012, 24% of Mertonians gave over £820,000 to the Annual Fund – our strongest result ever. Thank you! We recorded the third highest participation rate in Oxford, and are working hard to build upon this to ensure the Annual Fund performs robustly as the foundation of the College’s Fundraising efforts.

The Merton College Telephone Campaign March 2013
Merton’s eleventh telephone campaign will take place from Sunday 10th to Sunday 24th March 2013. Our team of six student callers will be telephoning Mertonians to catch up with your news, update you on the latest developments here at College, and ask for your support for the Annual Fund.
