Merton College guarantees high-quality college accommodation for all undergraduates, whether they are on a three year or four year course.
Rooms come in a variety of styles and locations at two prices, depending on whether the room is ensuite or not.
Accommodation is provided for all undergraduates for the duration of their course. It is allocated to Fresher Undergraduates and in subsequent years allocation of accommodation is by ballot organised by the JCR. Freshers are generally allocated accommodation in Merton Street properties or in Rose Lane all these properties adjoin the main College site. 2nd year undergraduates live, in the main, in Holywell Street. These are individual houses which make up part of our Holywell Quad and all have a kitchen in the property. Those in their 3rd year generally live in the main College precinct, whilst those in their 4th year return to live in Holywell Street.
Living out; in order for the College to make plans for the use of its accommodation the Academic Administrator must be informed if an undergraduate intends to reside in accommodation which is not College owned. This information must be provided each year no later than Friday of 3rd Week in the previous Hilary Term each year.
Vacation residence; undergraduates require explicit permission and objective justification. Priority is accorded to those sitting University Examinations and with extended terms.
